Guest Lectures

Hongbo Zhou

Friday September 7th 2012 Hongbo Zhou will give two lectures in seismic inversion and imaging. Hongbo Zhou is Head of Exploration Research in Statoil Gulf Serives, Houston, Texas. He holds a M.S. degree in Computational Mathematics, and a Ph.D. in Geosciences. His research interest is in seismic depth imaging and high performance computing.

In addition, Prof. Børge Arntsen and Prof. Bjørn Ursin will give talks on seismic inversion.

The schedule for the lectures are:
10:15-10:35: Imaging challenges in the Gulf of Mexico and the development of reverse time migration, by Hongbo Zhou
10:45-11:15: Full waveform inversion, by Hongbo Zhou
11:20-11:40: Full waveform inversion in the image and data spaces, by Børge Arntsen
11:40-12:00: Nonlinear seismic waveform inversion using a Born iterative T-matrix method, by Bjørn Ursin

Venue for the lectures are: P12, Petroleum Technology Center, NTNU.
