Research interests

My research is focused on understanding how seismic waves can be used to estimate elastic properties of the solid earth. I both develop the techniques necessary for analyzing seismic data and apply these techniques to problems ranging from exploration of oil to the investigation of the earth's lithosphere.

I have, together with PhD students, developed and applied 3D Elastic Full Waveform Inversion for industrial seismic data and time-lapse studies.

Currently I am working on applying Full Waveform Inversion/Waveform tomography to geophysical problems related to plate techtonics and the structure of the asthenosphere and upper mantle. I am also interested in developing new and improved inverse methods for seismic data.

I participate in in the GAMES consortium funded by the Norwegian Research Council and 20 industrial partners.

I have an official NTNU homepage and profiles on Google scholar and Research gate
