Symposium Information

Welcome to Trondheim!

This year's symposium is held in Trondheim at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology, NTNU. Trondheim was the capital of Norway, with more than a thousand years of rich history and still is a thriving city. NTNU, with more than 20000 students, an enormous research power and strong links with many other research institutes is indeed the technological centre of Norway. For more information about Trondheim, please visit this page.

We are still open for registration. It is also possible to register at the opening day of the Symposium. If you plan to do this, please send us an e-mail so we can estimate catering etc. in advance - failing to do so may leave you without lunch and dinner.

The symposium hotel is Scandic Hotel Residence in the centre of Trondheim (search for Trondheim and then click on Residence for more information). Special room rates are available if you mention the Symposium (590 kr. for single, 690 for double room). Additional information about accomodation in Trondheim can be found here. A map of the city centre is presented below.

The Symposium is held at the Gløshaugen campus, see maps below. Campus can be reached by taxi (approximately 80-100 kr.) and bus (20 kr); bus line 8 departs downtown 10, 25, 40 and 55 minutes past each hour in the morning. Leave at Gløshaugen Nord or Gløshaugen Syd. Or, if the sun is shining, it's a 20 minute walk past the Nidaros Cathedral, across the Elgeseter bridge to campus. If you plan to leave directly after the Symposium, there is a pleasant 50 minute train journey from campus to the Værnes airport (52 kr.). The Lerkendal train station is situated about 300 meters south of the Symposium venue where trains departs at 15:55, 16:25, 17:25, 17:55, and 18:55.

Traditionally, May is the best time of the year in Trondheim with an average temperature of 15 °C and lots of sunshine. However, there is the occational downpour and temperatures down to 5 °C – some warm clothes and an umbrella is a wise precaution.
