====== Petrel ======

Petrel covers a range of tasks like seismic interpretation, reservoir model building, front end for [[programs:eclipse]], and other.

**Where**\\  
   * Petrel is installed on most PCs at the department.
   * your own PC: follow the instructions [[info:ipt-prog|here]]. Then go to the Petrel folder and read 1st_readme_Petrel_NTNU.txt. Contact one of the persons below for information about license.

**How to start**\\ 
start -> programs -> schlumberger -> petrel 20XX -> Petrel 20XX.x.x\\

**TPG4127 seismic interpretation**\\
**Note**: //the project cannot be opened by two or more persons at the same time. Doing so may **corrupt** your project//.\\
Your Petrel project is stored on a server and you need to map a windows share to gain access. E.g. for group X map \\seis.igp.ntnu.no\tpg4130x, select "connect using different credentials", click on Finish and enter "seis.igp.ntnu.no\tpg4130x" as the user name, and fill in the given password.
You may have to click OK twice. This drive should only be used for the TPG4127 course - the passwords will
be changed after the semester and all data deleted.
