Masterlandsbyen 2008 - Groups and Tasks

Group 1:
Development of the Gullfaks South satellite field, including new platform
EVALUATION ON GULLFAKS SOUTH SATELLITE FIELD DEVELOPMENT:
  • We will conduct a study on the existing Eclipse model, first to understand the physics of the reservoir and then to figure out different productive assets (Platform, drilling ships, number of wells...)
  • We will consider many possible reservoir practices and recovery techniques (mainly water injection) in order to evaluate the reservoir potential.
  • While proceeding we will keep our mind on economic and risk aspects.
  • We will carry out economical and risk analysis on the possible solutions we have carried out to establish which one is the best and if it is rewarding for the company.

  • Group 2:
    Production from new formations
The task as chosen by group two is to evaluate the Lunde formation as a potential prospect for StatoilHydro. The evaluation is broadly divided into 3 parts:
  • Creating an eclipse input file of the Lunde formation by modifying the SPE 1 input file based on geologic and petrophysical data gathered from well logs and well production tests of the Lunde formation.
  • Simulating production based on the created (modified) model with and without water injection, different well targets based on DIACS/ NO DIACS.
  • And finally estimating reserves and calculating the NPV and evaluating the pros and cons of the different scenarios (water injection/ no water injection etc) on the observed production (i.e. risk analysis).

  • Group 3:
Development of the Gullfaks South satellite field, including new platform
This group has established the following principals as target of the development of the Gullfaks South satellite field. Decide about types of platforms in the field, how many wells are needed and evaluate the costs of all. Consider the best strategy of production on different well targets. Estimate the reservoir on the basis of existing models, simulate production and find out, through economic analysis the risk, the benefits and drawbacks, to get the best solution of the problem.
